Summary of Louisiana Graduated Licensing Law
(detailed chart bottom of this page)
Louisiana has a three stage licensing process for minors.
  1. Learner’s Permit (at least age 15) We recommend our Driver Ed in a Box® to use during the Learner stage. Shows the parent how to teach collision-free driving habits and provides unique teaching tools (mirrors, checklists, videos, audio instruction series, etc.).
  2. Intermediate License (ages 16 - 17)
  3. Full License (age 17 if has had license at least 6 months)
Teens want to know how to stay out of collisions!
Today’s teens do not just want their license; they want to be good collision-free drivers. They know the risks. Virtually all have friends who got a license and were involved in a collision in the first four weeks. Most teens have lost classmates due to fatal collisions.
Driver Ed in a Box® Certificate of Completion!
Choose Interactive CD-Rom Version or Text Version.
Teens want to know "why" the things you ask them to do will work. When you complete the full course you get a Certificate of Completion. Take this to your insurance agent. It varies state by state and by insurance company, but you may receive an insurance discount.
Using the full course your teen will learn why each step is important while learning the collision-free HABITS that make you a better driver. The full course also includes a section on Social & Consumer Issues. This includes how alcohol and drugs as well as emotions and attitude affect driving performance. Also covered are vehicle ownership (buying, leasing, insuring, and maintaining).
Over 15,000 students have used Driver Ed in a Box®.
"This program is very good in explaining the steps for each maneuver. It gradually builds from the beginner's lessons up to the skilled, and gives some situations that one might meet up with in their driving. I enjoyed the Driver Ed in a Box curriculum." - Julia Shore, Parent
"My dad and I listened to the tapes and watched several of the beginning videos, and my dad explained the terminology used before starting in the parking lot. Once I began driving, I would say what actions I was doing, such as 'Clear left, clear right, clear left' or "Mirror.' This system of driver Commenting was probably the most helpful part of the program, both because it made me conscious of whether or not I was doing the right things and it told my dad exactly what I was thinking so that he would know if I was aware of the hazards or if he needed to alert me." - Matt Ashbaugh, Student
"I felt Driver Ed in a Box covered all aspects of driving. I have taught a teen to drive before without any additional material. The teen I trained with Driver Ed in a Box is much better prepared." - Kathryn Engen, Parent
