Summary of Kentucky Graduated Licensing Law
(detailed chart bottom of this page)
Kentucky has a three stage licensing process for minors.
  1. Permit (at least age 16) We recommend our Driver Ed in a Box® to use during the Permit stage. Shows the parent how to teach collision-free driving habits and provides unique teaching tools (mirrors, checklists, videos, audio instruction series, etc.).
  2. Provisional Privileges Phase (ages 16 - 17) - Must have held Permit at least 180 days (6 months). Must take 4-hour Graduated Licensing class within one year of receiving Provisional License.
  3. Regular License (at least age 18).
Teens want to know how to stay out of collisions!
Today’s teens do not just want their license; they want to be good collision-free drivers. They know the risks. Virtually all have friends who got a license and were involved in a collision in the first four weeks. Most teens have lost classmates due to fatal collisions.
Driver Ed in a Box® Certificate of Completion!

Our product now includes both the Interactive CD-Rom Version and the Textbook Version for one low price.  You may use either version to complete the course at your own pace.

Teens want to know "why" the things you ask them to do will work. When you complete the full course you get a Certificate of Completion. Take this to your insurance agent. It varies state by state and by insurance company, but you may receive an insurance discount.
Using the full course your teen will learn why each step is important while learning the collision-free HABITS that make you a better driver. The full course also includes a section on Social & Consumer Issues. This includes how alcohol and drugs as well as emotions and attitude affect driving performance. Also covered are vehicle ownership (buying, leasing, insuring, and maintaining).
Over 15,000 students have used Driver Ed in a Box®.
"Driver Ed in a Box is concise, precise, and non-technical. I felt very much at ease implementing the teaching program." - Jeff Rich, Morehead, Kentucky
"In Kentucky we are required, after receiving our driver’s license, to take a graduate drivers class which covers the fundamentals of driving. I found that Driver Ed In A Box was more beneficial because I was able to use the workbook as an individual, watch the videos, and then practice what I learned on the road. The Kentucky graduate drivers class did not give information to better driving skills. They just showed videos & stories of bad incidents just to scare you. I feel very well prepared to drive on my own because I have had wonderful teachers."-Tabitha Wraley, Louisville, Kentucky
"Excellent. It gave me full confidence that I can teach my teen to drive collision-free." - R.M., Benton, Kentucky
