| Summary of Georgia licensing process for minors. |
A Driver
Education course is not a prerequisite to getting your license in the
State of Georgia. Teens
between the ages of 16 - 18 are required to complete the following 3
steps:
1.
Hold a
Learner’s License for a period of 1 year, (you may get your learner’s
license at age 15).
2.
A.
Provide documentation of 40 hours supervised practice, (the
checklist in the parent companion section of our course makes this easy
for you).
Or
B.Take a high school or
commercial driver education course and 20 hours of supervised practice.
3.
Take
a four-hour Alcohol and Drug Awareness course. This course is
taught in the school system. The Georgia State Patrol teaches
make-up classes at various locations in the state. For a list of their

and click on ADAP Class Schedule link.
This course is offered at no charge.
Driver Ed in a Box will help your teen become a
safe collision – free driver. Please
take your time, go through our website and see for yourself the value in
using our course. Then
purchase the course, study the first section to prepare for the learners
license exam, follow the course and checklist to enjoy your driving
experience over the learner’s period, and check the Alcohol and Drug
awareness schedule to fit your schedule.

HABITS that
make you a better driver. The full course also includes a section
on Social & Consumer Issues. This includes how alcohol and drugs
as well as emotions and attitude affect driving performance. Also
covered are vehicle ownership (buying, leasing, insuring, and maintaining). |

Alcohol/Drug Program
Teenagers under 18 years of age applying for a
Georgia driver’s license are required by law to take a four-hour
Alcohol and Drug Awareness course. This course is taught in the
school system. Make-up classes are taught at various locations in
the state by the Georgia State Patrol. For a list of their

These
courses are free to anyone between the ages of 15 & 18. |

All applicants under the age of 18
must have completed the Georgia Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (see
information under Learner's License to the left) and must
provide proof that either he/she is currently enrolled in school,
has parents permission to withdraw from school, or has received
a GED, a high school diploma, or completed high school, and have
held an instructional permit or license or combination thereof,
for one full year.
Proof of 40 hours supervised practice or 20 hours supervised practice
and high school or commercial driver education course must be provided
for applicants under the age of 18. |
